Besides writing books, here are a few of my other writing projects:

KNOW Magazine
In August 2005, I was delighted to be hired as the managing editor of KNOW: The Science Magazine for Curious Kids. KNOW is the younger sibling of YES Mag, Canada’s first science magazine, which is now a decade old! Take at look at both YES and KNOW (yes, we were easily amused when it came to naming the new magazine) on our web sites www.yesmag.ca and www.knowmag.ca

What's In a Name? - Tofino Time
I write a monthly (or almost monthly) local history column called What’s In a Name? for Tofino Time. You can check out Tofino Time at www.tofinotime.com. (Love their motto about our town: Half the speed, twice the pleasure. Hear, hear.)

Textbook Writing/Editing
For several years I freelanced in educational publishing. I was a developmental editor or writer for several textbooks and teacher resources for McGraw-Hill Ryerson, including BC Science 6 and 7, and Ontario Biology 11 and 12.

Magazine Writing
I’ve written dozens of articles for magazines, including National Geographic Kids, Boys’ Life, Canadian Wildlife, Beautiful British Columbia, WILD, Ranger Rick, Canadian Geographic, OWL, The Georgia Straight, and more.

Signs, exhibits, etc.
Over the years, I’ve worked on interpretation signs, print materials, exhibits, and centres, for various clients, including the Raincoast Education Society, Parks Canada (Wickaninnish Centre), Long Beach Model Forest Society, and BC Provincial Parks.
